So this isn't a ghost related experience but I tend to experience A LOT of deja vu and find it fascinating to discuss with others since its always such a personal feeling/experience when it happens to you. I also think this falls under the weird and unusual as it often happens for me in places I've never been before.
Personally, deja vu always feels like I'm remembering a dream that i had (usually a few months beforehand, sometimes up to a year before the deja vu event) and its ALWAYS a sensory experience, even in the dream. I can't remember these dreams for more than a few seconds after I wake no matter how hard I try and I could not tell you who is in the room/space or whats going on but its like i have a narrow sight thats focused on a single object, a word or short phrase that I can hear and then sometimes a movement of my arm or hand or something i touch. Its very successional experience as though i can only focus on one sense at a time and I almost feel like i can't do anything to change the moment or do anything but experience it until the moment passes (granted it happens for like 1 second but it always feels like it takes longer).
The most recent deja vu moment I can recall was I had gone on a date with a guy and this was our second date. He invited me back to his apartment which i agreed to. I did not know this guy before our agreed dates nor had I any clue as to where he lived yet alone had ever stepped foot in his apartment. Yet, after spending a little time together there deja vu hit - I had looked at this bookcase during the first couple of minutes of walking into the apartment but not until a phrase he said mid-sentence did the deja vu trigger. And then it was like everything became suddenly familiar.
Does anyone else also experience deja vu in a similar way? Does it happen to you in places that look familiar or completely new places that you would never recognize until the deja vu hits?
