First things first i dont know if you will be able to find much printed articles about the spooky history in munich. Mosst of those stories are mouth to ear kind of stuff.
Most of the stuff i have is based upon stories I have heard from my granparents and family. Through one of the stories is a little different from that. See i went to a Catholic kindergarten/kindergarden that was run by nuns. Munich is predominantly catholic and therefore the oldest churches are catholic too. As the kindergarten was run by catholic nuns they ensured that most of the trips we made were to those churches as most of them played a signifcant role in munichs history. This story was told to me by Sister Miriam a nun who had been a close friend of my mother.
The biggest and most recognicable one is the Münchner Frauenkirche (translates to women's church) this is where if you believe the stories the devils footprint can be found.
It is a black mark resembling a footprint, which according to legend was where the devil stood when he regarded and ridiculed the 'windowless' church.
The version of the legend, that i got told from Sister Miriam, is the following. The devil made a deal with the builder to finance construction of the church on the condition that it contains no windows. Following legends that would keep the Angels out of the church and therfore ensure that no blessings would come from any cermony conducted there. The architect, however, tricked the devil by positioning columns so that the windows were not visible from the spot where the devil stood in the foyer. When the devil discovered that he had been tricked, he could not enter the already consecrated church (i honestly dont remember why). The devil could only stand in the foyer and stomp his foot furiously, which left the dark footprint that remains visible in the church's entrance today.
Legend also says the devil then rushed outside and manifested its evil spirit in the wind that furiously rages around the church. And this place has enormous fallwinds due to the facade and the postioning of the church. Even on days where there is no wind at all you will always have a breeze there.
Another version of that part of the legend has it the devil came to see the construction place riding on the wind. Having completely lost his temper he stormed away forgetting the wind, that will continue to blow around the church until the day the devil comes back to reclaim it.
This story can at least partially be found at the english wikipedia page of the Frauenkirche en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Munich_Frauenkirche
I have a few more Stories about munich but that is the creepy story about which I could find an english publication.
