I'm not personally sensitive to spirits but I had one experience when I was eighteen. We were visiting a friend who had a huge old Victorian in the Twin Cities for a special choir retreat and people were piled from pillar to post. Naturally, young people got the attic. I was in that half-awake state when it felt like something sat on my cot and the woman simply said "You know, I'm dead." Then I woke up.

I had two instances of sleep paralysis in one it felt like a very dark evil presence and I visualized light and prayed for angels. I was relieved when it lifted. The second time was a weird combination where I felt the presence much like a Harry Potter world dementor. I somehow was lucid enough to get back to sleep and banish it with a Patronus. www.thesleepparalysisproject.org/about-sleep-paralysis/culture-and-history/How have you calmed down post-paralysis?

Wow. As an archivist, I'm going to have to read it. I tell people that I feel like in movies where libraries or archives are harmed there really needs to be a note in the credits like there is for animals--no records were harmed in the making of this film! Erasing records is a scary thought. At least when you work in government archives the whole points is to make sure that people have access to the records their tax dollars created and that leadership are held accountable. Looking forward to reading the book.

I'm originally from Wisconsin. Just after graduate school I had a temporary job with digital collections and my boss wrote a segment calledd "Odd Wisconsin" How the completly made up Hodag saved a town could be my favorite one he ever did: A logger and prankster by the name of Gene Shepard claimed to have captured creature in the Wisconsin woods.

Someone I know is sensitive. Once in a while they just pop up--they don't talk but he feels their emotions on occasion. His preferred communication is that he really wishes they didn't. Personally, whenever I've had some kind of interaction it's just been when I'm asleep and with a loved one. Whatever may happen, it gives me the shivers.

If you consider that your talent, then of course it belongs here! I think the board is just new so there hasn't been a lot of posts across the board yet.

Thank you! Vermont has a tiny population and a lot of people know people who know people. I still really love the whole story.

It was a little dark for the very young but the eight and up who were there seemed to love it. Speaking as a once very sensitive kid--I needed a blanket to watch Disney's Snow White!

I can't be the only one totally in love with this movie? I had a really bad week last week and seeing Zootopia made me feel so much better. I don't want to spoil it but I'd love to know if others have a similar reaction.

www.atlasobscura.com/places/hope-cemeteryHope Cemetery is located in my town and the sculpture work is amazing. The part that gives me goosebumps is that many of the stone markings were done by their eventual occupants. They worked inside in Vermont instead of outside like in Italy and a love of the workers got silicosis from inhaling the dust. The art work is haunting in its own way. Whenever people ask me what to do when they visit i take them here.

It's an unusual name. I don't think anyone would get it at first try without help! I love the podcast and it's been my companion when I process collections.

Mariessa (like the name Marie-sa) I'm an archivist in Vermont. In a tiny state I get to dabble in all aspects of archives from reference, processing, digital collections, outreach and some research. I'm originally from Wisconsin and there is a great deal of oddity and ghost stories there. I love folklore. Interest in ghost stories is more recent. I do historical reenactment, read and do research in the free time. I'm active in the tiny Jewish community and sing in a Rock and Soul chorus called "Rock City".
